Editorial Guidelines

The Journal of Curriculum Innovation and Assessment (JCIA) is committed to advancing high-quality, evidence-based research in curriculum studies, assessment practices, and educational innovation. These editorial guidelines provide a clear, ethical, and structured framework for authors, reviewers, and editors to ensure fairness, transparency, and academic rigor throughout the manuscript handling and publication process.

1. Submission and Initial Evaluation

Scope and Relevance
Submissions must be original and within the aims and scope of the journal, which includes curriculum development, pedagogical innovation, assessment strategies, educational policy, and related areas. Authors are encouraged to review the Aims & Scope section before submitting.

Plagiarism Screening
All manuscripts undergo plagiarism checks using standard tools. JCIA enforces a maximum similarity threshold of 19%. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be returned or rejected before peer review.

Manuscript Format Requirements
Manuscripts must follow the Author Guidelines, including:

  • Title and author information

  • Abstract and keywords

  • Structured body (IMRAD or relevant format)

  • Proper referencing (APA style, latest edition)

  • Tables, figures, acknowledgments, and ethical statements

Licensing Terms
All accepted articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0), allowing sharing with attribution but no commercial use or modification.

2. Peer Review Policy

Double-Blind Review
JCIA follows a double-blind review process, where both author and reviewer identities remain confidential. At least two independent reviewers assess each submission.

Reviewer Selection & Ethics
Reviewers are selected based on subject expertise, research credentials, and absence of conflicts of interest. All submitted material is treated confidentially, and reviewers must maintain academic integrity.

Timeliness
Reviewers are expected to complete reviews within 2–4 weeks. The editorial team ensures timely feedback and communication with authors throughout the process.

3. Editorial Decision-Making

Authors receive a decision letter with constructive reviewer comments.

Revision and Resubmission
Authors are required to submit a revised manuscript within the given deadline and provide a detailed response to reviewer feedback.

Appeals
Authors may appeal a rejection by submitting a formal request. Appeals are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and, if needed, an independent academic reviewer.

4. Ethical Standards and Responsibilities

Authorship Criteria
All listed authors must have made significant contributions. The corresponding author ensures all contributors approve the manuscript and its submission.

Conflict of Interest Disclosure
Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, professional, or personal relationships that could influence the manuscript evaluation.

Research Ethics
Studies involving human participants, surveys, or institutional data must include statements of ethical approval and informed consent.

5. Post-Publication Policy

Corrections and Retractions
JCIA may issue:

  • Erratum: Publisher-corrected errors

  • Corrigendum: Author-corrected errors

  • Retraction: Invalid or unethical research

All changes are clearly marked and indexed appropriately.

Digital Archiving
All articles are permanently archived to ensure long-term accessibility and citation continuity.

6. Editorial Board Responsibilities

Selection Criteria
Board members are chosen for subject expertise, research credentials, and commitment to ethical publishing.

Duties
Board members support peer review, strategic development, quality assurance, and ethical governance.

Rotation and Renewal
The editorial board is periodically refreshed to maintain diversity and innovation.

7. Communication and Transparency

Author Support
The editorial office assists authors with manuscript status, submission procedures, and publication timelines.

Professional Conduct
All communications among authors, reviewers, and editors must remain professional, respectful, and timely to maintain a collaborative scholarly environment.
