Abstract

The core purpose of the research was to find out the relationship between the leadership styles of heads of departments and the job satisfaction of teachers at the university level. A sample of fifty teachers was selected from the matching departments of the universities of district Mianwali. A questionnaire was used as a tool for data collection from the respondents. The major findings of research study have proved that job satisfaction of the teachers has strong relationship with democratic and laissez-faire leadership styles of HODs. It was also revealed that mostly HODs exercise the laissez-faire leadership style in universities because the HODs take little concern in the activities of the teachers and does not supervise the teachers strictly. The HODs should enhance the freedom of the teacher in departmental activities and should increase the involvement in the decision-making process.
