Author Appeal Policy

Purpose
JGST ensures a fair and transparent editorial process and allows authors to appeal decisions based on substantive concerns.

Grounds for Appeal

  • Misinterpretation of content or methodology.

  • Factual errors in reviews or editorial handling.

  • Conflicts of interest or bias.

  • Appeals based solely on disagreement with reviewers without evidence are not considered.

Submission Process

  • Appeals must be submitted within 20 days of receiving the decision.

  • Include a formal appeal letter with rationale, references to reviewer comments, and supporting evidence.

  • Revised manuscripts may be submitted with tracked changes.

Appeal Review

  • Initial assessment by Editor-in-Chief.

  • Additional independent review may be conducted.

  • Final decisions may uphold the original outcome, invite revision, or accept the manuscript.

Scope & Limitations

  • One appeal per manuscript.

  • No guarantee of reversal.

Ethical Oversight

  • Escalation for potential ethical violations.

  • Possible reassignment or investigation as per COPE guidelines.

Communication & Timelines

  • Acknowledgment within 5 business days.

  • Processing typically takes 4–8 weeks.
