Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technologies has accelerated the transformation of higher education toward Smart Universities, where Artificial meha (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and effective educational policies collectively enhance teaching, learning, governance, and institutional sustainability. This research constructs an integrated framework that describes AI, IoT, and Educational Policy for the sustainable digital transformation of higher education. The framework was quantitatively assessed using a cross-sectional research design. Data were collected using a structured online questionnaire to a sample of 437 people comprising students, faculty, and staff from the universities and IT professionals from public and private universities in Punjab and Sindh, Pakistan. A cross-section of universities was selected, including but not limited to, University of the Punjab, Government College University Lahore, Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan, University of Education Lahore, University of Karachi, NED University of Engineering and Technology, and University of Sindh Jamshoro. The online data collection was done using Google Forms, data were processed in Microsoft Excel, and analytic procedures were done in IBM SPSS Statistics, Version 27. Study Variable Relationships were measured and assessed using Descriptive Statistics, Correlation (Pearson), Multiple Linear Regression, t-Test, and ANOVA (One Way). The research identified the collective impact of AI, IoT, and Educational Policy in the digital transformation of Smart Universities, signifying the value of concurrent coupling of innovation (technology) and governance and/or institutional policy. The framework offers research and practice insights toward Smart and Sustainable Higher Education for university administrators, higher education policymakers, and educators.
